Renieri Brunello di Montalcino 2011
|Appellation||Brunello di Montalcino|
Wine AdvocateRenieri always delivers thickly extracted wines that boast their own distinctive style. The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is no exception. This is a beautiful effort. Dark cherry, plum and blackberry find excellent integration with dark spice, smoke, licorice and Spanish cedar. The bouquet is articulate and complex with thick layers that peel back one at a time. This Brunello shows a tight and structured mouthfeel with fresh acidity and a long-lasting, silky texture.
Wine SpectatorTightly wound, this Brunello is packed with cherry, strawberry, floral and salty, minerally flavors. This is well made, with ripeness midpalate and a lingering, succulent finish that echoes fruit, mineral and spice details. Best from 2018 through 2029. 2,500 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastThis opens with an unusual combination of aromas including resin, cured meat, raisin, game and grilled herb. The aromas carry over to the evolved, one-dimensional palate along with raspberry jam and chewy tannins. It's already approachable, so drink over the next few years.
