Poeira Douro 2009
Wine AdvocateThe 2009 Tinto, an old vines field blend, is the flagship wine here. Earthy, bright and tight, this is a pointed and focused wine with a hint of funk. Gripping, refined and intense, with far more finesse than the second wine, it has an awful lot going on. It should acquire far more complexity in time. Sleek and powerful, it retains surprising crispness and remarkable gracefulness in this big vintage. The second wine actually seems deeper and certainly more interesting at the moment, but it is not as persistent and this has more upside. This is going to need a couple of years more to come around â€" it is not all there yet and nowhere near ready. It did grow on me steadily with aeration, a very good sign. There were 1,100 cases produced, of which just 153 were imported. Drink 2014-2025.
Wine SpectatorThere's fine concentration, balance and freshness to this well-proportioned red from Portugal, which features powerful flavors of red berry, currant and wild plum, with cedar and white pepper on the bright finish. Drink now through . 3,000 cases made.
